We were pleased with bad weather forecast that Robert and girlfriend Hannah arrived safely at midnight on Thursday 16th Dec after only a small diversion !!! With freezing temperatures and snow coming we were hoping that the trip to Samoens was not going to be as bad as last years Christmas trip to La Rosiere !!!
Friday 17th Dec and we got away fine and made it to the shuttle only a little behind schedule with the only hold up being at the A 12/M25 exit where we queued for an hour :( Then the trip to our formula 1 in Troyes took four and a half hours with only the odd blizzard to contend with !!!
Saturday 18th Dec and we meet a lovely couple of 80 years old and still skiing !!! whose trip to Troyes took eight hours because of bad weather and accidents !!!! Our trip to Samoens went well with some stunning scenery around Geneva and after a supermarket shop in Cluses spending 209 Euros we got to our fantastic MGM apartment - La Reine des Pres at five.Unpack, pizza and some Flight of the Conchords dvd feast then bed knackered !!!
Sunday 19th Dec with everyone tired and the weather forcast not brilliant we had a lay in,breakfast and a wonder up to the lovely old Samoens town centre for Hannah to hire her skis and boots, then dinner and we walked to the Grand Massif Express where we discovered most of the area was shut due to high winds at the top :( The only lift open was Chariande 2 but spent a nice afternoon on the three runs there with Marmotte being the best !!! Then a stop at Tiffanies Boulangerie ,great place with loads of free samples for cake for tea :) Fingers crossed for some nice weather tomorrow ???
